Family Genes

Mmmm old chairs... every time I think of them I get this warm, fuzzy feeling and imagine the old, squeaky, green chair in my living room. That's the chair nobody likes sitting on. One millimetre of movement and three minutes of squeaking later, you wouldn't even know what hit you. The good thing about old chairs is that they have been sat in enough times, over the stretch of possibly 100 years, that you don't have to break them in and you can immediately use them for what chairs are best at. A good pair of shoes doesn't have to be broken into, the same goes for chairs.

Furniture kind of runs in my family. My Grandpa was a carpenter, my dad and mom have collected old used furniture and my Oma is the queen of finding furniture everywhere. Now I have inherited that monster. One that rears its ugly head, either when I'm broke or planning a photoshoot, causing me to go on Kijiji, for unreasonable lengths of time, searching for FREE Vintage Chairs. There is a very full cart afterward that ends up emptying as each piece of furniture is sold (not to me LOL).

Most of them are really old, battered Rococo Revivalesque style chairs that seem to have inhabited my house, or one of my relative's houses, at one point or another. The fit hasn't hit me in a while but I know it is coming...

And no post is good without a photo, so here's one of me and Demi:)

Thanks for reading!
